Here’s everything you’ll need to bake up these Snowman Bauble Biscuits:

  • Baking block (e.g. Stork) or butter: Provides a buttery base for the biscuit dough, ensuring a soft and rich texture.

How to Make the Gingerbread Bauble Biscuits

Start by making the biscuit dough—it’s super simple. First, melt the baking block, brown sugar, and golden syrup together in a saucepan to make a thick mixture. Then combine with the dry ingredients and mix to form a soft dough. If things are feeling a bit crumbly, don’t panic—a tiny splash of water will bring it right back together. Wrap the dough in clingfilm and chill for 30 minutes.

Now it’s time to roll out your dough. Flour your work surface and rolling pin and roll the dough to about 0.5cm thick. Grab a round cutter (around 5cm is perfect) and cut out circles, punching a small hole at the top of each one—a straw works brilliantly for this. You’ll need to re-roll the scraps to make 14 biscuits. Pop them onto a lined baking tray and bake for 12 minutes at 160°C (fan). Let them cool on a wire rack before you dive into the decorating fun.

Now for the fun part—decorating your snowmen! There’s three parts to the decoration:

  1. Add the string: Thread a piece of colourful string through the holes at the top of the biscuits. I love the candy cane look of the red and white string.
  2. Create the snowman shape: Use a small amount of icing to stick a large Milkybar button for the snowman’s body and a smaller button just above it for the head. Give them a few minutes to set so everything stays put.
  3. Bring the snowmen to life: Use black writing icing to draw on their happy little eyes, a big smile, and those cute stick arms. Add a pop of colour with the orange icing by giving each snowman a classic carrot nose. Now grab your red icing to pipe cosy scarves around their necks—you can even add tiny buttons to their bodies for a bit of extra charm.
  4. Snowy touches: Dot white icing around the biscuit like tiny snowflakes.

Tips for Perfect Snowman Bauble Biscuits

  1. Dough too soft/wet: Add a spoonful of flour to bind the ingredients together.
  2. Dough too crumbly/dry: Add a splash of water to bring the dough together.
  3. Chill the dough: If your dough feels too soft to roll, chill it in the fridge for 15-20 minutes before cutting out your biscuits.
  4. Even baking: Bake biscuits on the middle shelf of the oven for an even finish.
  5. Re-punch the holes after baking: If the holes have closed up a little during baking, don’t worry—you can fix them! Just grab a straw and re-punch the holes while the biscuits are still soft and warm.
  6. Decoration hack: If you don’t have writing icing, melted chocolate in a piping bag works brilliantly for snowman details.

Ingredients
  

  • 100 grams Baking block or butter e.g. Stork
  • 100 grams light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons golden syrup
  • 200 grams plain flour
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 bag Milkybar Sharing Bag you’ll need 14 big buttons
  • 1 bag Milkybar Treat-sized Bag you’ll need 14 small buttons
  • Writing icing tubes black, orange, red, white

Instructions
 

Start by making the gingerbread biscuits:

  • Measure the baking block, brown sugar and golden syrup into a saucepan. Place over medium heat and stir until melted and combined. Allow the mixture to bubble up for a few minutes, then remove from the heat and leave to cool for 10 minutes.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk the flour, cocoa powder and spices together.
  • Pour in the butter mixture and fold to make a smooth dough.
  • Wrap the dough in clingfilm and place in the fridge for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 160°C fan / 180°C conventional and line a large baking sheet with baking paper.
  • Lightly flour a worktop and rolling pin. Roll the dough out to roughly 0.5cm thickness. Use a 5cm round cutter to stamp out biscuits (you’ll need to reroll the scraps to make 14 in total).
  • Use a straw or small round piping tip to stamp out a hole at the top of each biscuit.
  • Transfer to the baking sheet and bake for 12 minutes until firm around the edges. If the holes have closed up during baking, use a straw to make another hole whilst the biscuits are warm. Leave to cool.

Decorate the snowman biscuits:

  • Thread string or ribbon through the hole and tie in a knot.
  • Stick two Milkybar buttons on top of the biscuits (one small, one large) to make a snowman shape. Then use the writing icing tubes to add the decorations and bring the snowman to life!
